Super Copier 2

I have to say, I am pretty impressed with Super Copier 2. I recently discovered Super Copier 2 through a RSS feed. It handles copying much much better than Windows itself. Super Copier 2 can copy huge files way faster that Windows and it even allows the user to pause and resume the copy / move action.

With many more features Super Copier 2 is something that I just can’t use my pc without…

give it a try - http://supercopier.sfxteam.org/modules/mydownloads/ (click the English flag on the left side for the English version of the site)

Super Copier 2 integrates itself into windows and replaces the default Windows copy / move functions.

Here is a screen cap for you:

360Desktop - new dimensions for your desktop space

We are in for a neat treat for our desktop and the way we use our desktop space. 360Desktop will give you a 360 degree desktop (that’s right you can go left until you reach the original starting position). The concept looks awesome and I can’t wait to get my nerdy little hands on a BETA of this… check out the video it is awesome ;-)

Can Linux really replace (or even out race) windows?

APC Magazine published a SUPERGUIDE: The Open Source Challenge. How to replace Windows completely with Ubuntu. The guide is almost step-by-step with lots of screen shots and looks into almost every niche of computing, from gaming, encoding music, iPod, Video Editing and rated every category - compared to Windows. You’ll be surprised, but Linux (they used Ubuntu for the guide) can out race windows in many many areas (some that you wouldn’t expect). Even gaming, playing new games on Ubuntu is possible (games like Unreal Tournament, Doom 3, Quake 3). Read it and start to believe… Ubuntu does a better job than windows in many aspects (well not all yet, but they are on the right way…)

so you think you are a geek because you dual boot?

I thought it was prette geeky to dual boot or even tripple boot for the ultra geeks, but what would you say if I told you that a real geek named "saikee" managed to install 145 different operating systems on one single computer? These 145 OS are 3 DOS, 5 Windows and 137 different Linux distros. They run on 152 partitions (WOW!). Read How he did it

all i can say is WOW… (and maybe as WHY?)

Add Foldersize to windows explorer (xp 32 bit only)

a very neat little program that will add an extra column to windows explorer that displays the size of the folder… Something that MS seems to forget every time. Make sure you check the options in the control panel after you install it… Get it Folder size

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 features

  • The beta will be released to a moderate-sized audience in a few weeks.
  • With SP1, Windows Vista can boot via EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) on an x64 machine
  • SP1 supports ExFAT, a new file format that will be used in flash memory storage and consumer devices
  • Support for SD Advanced DMA Support to improve transfer performance and decrease CPU utilization is part of SP1
  • SP1 includes a series of new API’s and software features to enable 3D application and game developers to make more complete and efficient use of the upcoming generation of graphics Direct3D 10.1 hardware
  • Windows Vista SP1 includes SSTP (Secure Sockets Tunnel Protocol), a remote access VPN tunneling protocol that will be part of Microsoft’s RRAS (Routing and Remote Access Service) platform. SSTP helps provide full-network VPN remote access connections without some of the challenges that other VPN tunnels face traversing NAT, web proxies, and firewalls
  • With Windows Vista SP1, BitLocker Drive Encryption has been enhanced to not only fully encrypt the entire Windows Vista volume but also any or all additional locally created data volumes. (Customers can now not only fully encrypt C: but also D: and E:)
  • Network Diagnostics in Windows Vista SP1 will help users with the most common file sharing problems, in addition to basic problems already supported
  • SP1 includes an update to Disk Defragmenter so administrators can control which volumes the disk defragmenter runs on
  • Windows Vista SP1 does not include new drivers. Rather, new drivers are delivered to users via Windows Update or directly from the driver vendor.
  • Microsoft currently expects to deliver SP1 during the first quarter of 2008, but will collect customer feedback from the upcoming beta process before setting a final date.
  • Windows Vista SP1 is designed to not significantly change the UI or to cause regressions in application compatibility.
  • SP1 is going to be released in two waves. The initial release of SP1 will include 5 languages (English, French, Spanish, German, and Japanese). A Service Pack containing all 36 of the languages (including the original 5) will be released about 3 months later.
